SSL
SSL stands for Secure Sockets Layer. SSL enables the encryption of all information transferred between a website and you computer.

The strength of the key used for encryption can range from 40 up to 168 bits. Encryption utilizing less than 128 bits is considered insecure.

We can apply for a SSL Certificate for you and handle the encryption key installation. There is a one time $50 for our service for each certificate application you need, and a recurring annual free by the Certificate issuer. More information can be found at http://www.thawte.com.

Shared SSL (we have a 128 bit SSL Certificate)
A shared SSL certificate allows you to use Anchor Systems SSL certificate to accept data securely on your website. SSL certificates are purchased per domain.

By 'sharing' the Anchor Systems certificate, you are able to accept information securely without the expense of purchasing your own SSL certificate.

Pages using the shared certificate will have a URL of:
https://www.rainycity.net/secure/youraccount/pagename.htm

There is no security risk associated with using a shared SSL certificate.

The advantage of having your own SSL certificate is that your domain is the only domain which will appear in the Location bar in a visitors web browser, and visitors to your website are guaranteed that the domain is owned by the registered company as listed on the SSL certificate.
